Dear Friend,

I hope you are well.

During the last two years I have travelled to Afghanistan with the actor Jude Law, our Peace One Day Ambassador. In Afghanistan, POD was privileged to work alongside UN agencies and other humanitarian organisations to help secure the conditions through which polio vaccinations could be carried out safely, on and around Peace Day. As a result, 1.4 million children were vaccinated against polio in 2007, and 1.8 million were vaccinated in 2008.

These life-saving activities have been made possible because you, and millions of others like you around the world, have decided to get involved. POD will continue its work in documenting life-saving activities, worldwide, on Peace Day 2009.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Peace One Day and I’d like to take this opportunity to ask for your continued support. Once again, we aim to manifest commitments to Peace Day in each of the 192 UN member states. Let us know of any plans you may have for Monday, 21 September 2009.

There are lots of ways in which you can get involved. For example, you could join thousands of others around the world and hold a screening of our new film, ‘The Day After Peace’, or you could be a part of our football campaign, ‘One Day One Goal’. However big or small, whatever way you decide to observe Peace Day, we would love for you to tell us about it!

Please log your 2009 commitment at www.peaceoneday.org/commitment.aspx.

Thanks again for all your support. I look forward to hearing how you will be marking Peace Day 2009.

Warm Regards

In peace

Jeremy
